Boomers Beware!

Nice hotel, lots of good features (pay movies, near to Metrodome, Guthrie Theatre and parks for walking and biking.). We stayed here three nights during a family wedding celebration. However, definately geared to a younger crowd. The overly loud emo/dance/world/alternative (crap) music in the elevator was bad enough. Friday and Saturday nights, the place turned into party central. The large and nicely appointed outdoor smoking area was filled with loud drinkers into the wee hours (e.g. 4am Sunday morning.) Also, much commotion in hallways. We called the desk and were assured that the noise would be addressed--it continued unabated. Young (too young to drink?) slugs cruised the loby/halls/pool area with open containers but weere not confronted by hotel staff. Beware of parking--there is a large garage right next door, but it costs * dollars a day if you intend to take your car in and out.

The staff, every front desk and cleaning staff person I met, were friendly and very proud of their hotel. Upkeep was spotless. The modern and comfortable style of the Aloft is a tremendous change from traditional hotel rooms. The location is convenient to the Guthrie Theater and the Metrodome. I am strongly recommending the Aloft as an affordable and visually stunning hotel.

This place has a great vibe and the staff is exceptional -- young, smart, super helpful. Each staff person I net went out of their way to be helpful --looking up restaurants, taking me places on the shuttle that is free, bringing stuff to my room. The room itself was neat and I esp. loved the high speed internet which is wireless. I could hear the neighbors talking early in the a.m. and late at night, that was the one downside. I'd ask for a room that does not have an adjoining room, maybe those doors (which are locked, etc, so folks can't get thru) are just thin?

Great place to stay near the metrodome, not far from the UMN campus, and close to pubs and eaterys. Enjoyed the funky atmosphere and very pleasant staff. They also make a great cosmo martini in the lounge!
