I have stayed at the W Minneapolis at least 6 times since they opened and have sung their praises. Until my last stay April 2010. The hotel is showing a general shabbiness that contrasts sharply with their cool, hip vibe. Upon arriving to my room, I first noticed that the bedspread had several long strings hanging from it and a long snag - as though it had been caught in some machinery. OK - not that big of a deal. Then in the bathroom, the rug in front of the sink had many long strings hanging ragged from the edge and one edge had a rip in it. My bath rugs get this also from washing but I simply clip the offending strings off. Next, I turned on the bedside light and it looked like someone had spilled powder all over the night stand - there was a thick layer of dust. The next morning when I put on the robe in my bathroom, imagine my surprise to discover that one of the pockets was hanging on by one side - the other two were completely unseamed. Any one of these items would have been no big deal, but combined it is a shabbiness that I do not expect at the W. I wrote an email to the GM on my last day - NO RESPONSE.

It's obviously the place to be on weekends in Minneapolis. As I entered the hotel on Friday evening, the music was loud and the entrance was clogged with young, hip people. Unfortunately, I was in town for business, not playing. The room wasn't well-lit. There wasn't an outlet that was close to the bed for my cell phone. The business center's computers were so slow to load web pages that I finally gave up. The view out my window was of a brick wall. It took a long time to get an elevator. On the good side, the heating/cooling system was quiet.

Everything about my stay was wonderful-the room (i.e., stylish, cool, comfortable, and luxurious), the bar on the 27th floor, the lobby (I mean, the living room), the view from the observation deck, and the location (i.e., Minneapolis is a fantastic place to visit). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Hi we stayed at the W Foshay and got upgraded to a suite (wife is Platinum with SPG) for my 50th birthday celebration and got a fantastic large room on the 23rd floor with a wrap around view of downtown mpls. Had friends up to the suite to celebrate before going to an awesome dinner at Manny's Steakhouse. The beds at the W are the best and this one was no exception. We've stayed at W hotels in Atlanta, NY, and New Orleans and this was as good as any of them - cool architecture and a great party bar in the Living Room!
