The hotel is great! The staff was friendly and the room and bathroom were extremely new and clean! There was a flat screen TV in the hotel room and a great breakfast bar and pool area! The hotel had an awesome modern decor! On the down side, the hotel was in a VERY BAD NEIGHBORHOOD! When I arrived, I got a sick feeling! There were homeless people sitting around the streets and alot of extremely run down buildings. There was a police station down the street from the hotel. The Fairfield Inn said that the police were allowed to come in every morning and eat the free breakfast as a repayment to keep the "trouble" away from the hotel. A police officer eating breakfast one morning was overheard saying to a guest..."Do not go up three blocks from this hotel. It is a very bad neighborhood!" I was extremely concerned with this, since anyone could walk in and out of the hotel! I would not stay here again because of the location.

My family (kids aged 8 and 6) and parents stayed at this hotel the week of 4/6-4/10. The staff was extremely courteous and worked to get 3 rooms on the same floor to keep us all together. The breakfast was nice-- although crowded-- but the staff assisted to get everyone through. The pool is smaller than most but very nice. The hot tub was great. One night it quit working, we called from the pool, and someone was there in 20 minutes and had us back in business. This is a new hotel and very clean. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. There was a sign-up for the shuttle to Union Station, and they even called one day when I wasn't down there in time. We did have to call for the shuttle to come pick us up from Union Station as there were too many people for their normal hourly run, but they dispatched another van quickly. It was a 10-15 min ride to Union Station, depending on traffic. The neighborhood around the hotel is trying to rebound- but we did walk across the street to the KFC and across the parking lot to the convenience store with no problem. They had 4 PCs in the lobby for free internet access as well. Very clean hotel, excellent staff, great price for the close proximity to Union Station and DC. I've stayed in numerous hotels for personal and business travel and this was the nicest stay I've had in a long time.
