My husband and I stayed here for a night away a number of years ago and loved it so much we went back last year! The price is great and the view is amazing. I will agree with another guest, though, that there isn't much open on the nights or weekends, but it makes for a nice walk and adventure to find a restaurant. (:

We stayed here for the Chicago Marathon. We primarily chose it because of the proximity to Grant Park (where the race started and finished), but also because of the fitness center and the fact that they offered breakfast. My only real complaint was that the fitness club didn't open until 9 or 10 am on the weekend days. It would be nice if you could use the facilities whenever you wanted to. Our room was clean and spacious and the daily tidy service was fantastic. The breakfast was nothing special, but we are cereal, banana, and bagel people anyway, so we didn't mind. The view from our room was fantastic to say the least. Most of the good dining is a bit of a walk away (or a train ride, or a taxi ride). There is a blue line El Train stop around the corner so you can go all the way to O'Hare or transfer to the Orange to go to Midway. We rode the trains and the buses as well as doing a bit of walking and taking a few cab rides and it was fine. It only took us about 10-20 minutes to go the River North area (including waiting for trains) to dine, etc. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed three nights and was the quietest hotel I have stayed in. Rooms were large and the bathrooms very large. Staff was very friendly and helpfull and always smiling. The elevator change on the 39th floor was never a problem and we never had to wait. There were several good restaurants close by and most were very reasonable. The morning continental breakfast in the club room was better than expected too. The location is a couplke of blocks away from the start of all the museums and parks but if you don't mind walking a bit it was a really great hotel.

The LaSalle Hotel, located on the top floor of 1st. Financial Plaza, is an older but great place to stay on your' trip to Chicago. The view of downtown Chicago is awsome. Staff service is excellent. One drawback is no room service but the morning continental breakfast is good, a 5 star restaurant is on the same floor and there are plenty of places in the area to eat. Transportation is close by (the el loop is next to the building) and most places are within walking distance (I don't recomend driving yourself). If you do plan to stay at this hotel and are driving yurself I would advise you to call ahead and get detailed instructions on where you park. The, secured and guarded, lot is under the building and hard to find if you have never been there before. All in all I would highly recomend this hotel if you are planning a trip to Chicago.
