Visited Palomar from Toronto and was a great experience! Being a first time visiter to Los Angeles i was a bit skeptical on what hotels were good and what areas were best. I took a chance and booked at the Palomar and im glad i did. Service from the second i got there till the end was awesome. Everyone there was very help full in showing us where to go and where not to go. Free coffe every mornings and room service was always fast. As for location About 15 - 20 min cab ride from LAX ..Palomar is in a beautiful neighbour with Westwood village a few blocks away. Alot of fun shops and restaurant in the village. Attractions arent so close to the hotel so with the help of the front desk They showed us a Tourist bus that comes by every 20 - 30 mins into the Westwood village and can take you to the Beverley Center Rodeo Drive Sunset Hollywood blvd Paramount Studios Universal Studios etc.. You pay once for the bus also.. I think paid 30 for the 5 days i was there so it defenitly beats taking cabs which are way to expensive. Bus rids were normally 10 15 mins depending how far you went. Only down side If you love night life... not to much around. Youll have to cab it to where ever you wanna go. I went out to Santa Monica Pier and it was about a 35 cab ride one way. Overall..L.A. was alot of fun and the Palomar was awesome.

I have stayed at several Kimpton hotels over the past 5 years and the one constant is the engaged and friendly staff. Every member of the staff that I engaged with at the Palomar were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. In addition, the hotel is very well appointed and the location is excellent. The only downside is the $ / day valet parking tab - other than that the hotel was a great find and a great value.

The family was doing a college tour. We stayed one night at the Palomar and we fell in love with this hotel. The staff was great, recommended and made dinner reservations for us. They were very accommodating. The hotel is very chic, the room was beautiful, even the bathroom with its exquisite granite vanity and that red door! We hated to leave! The only complaint, which has absolutely nothing to do with the hotel or its staff, is its location. It's very high traffic area and I swear everyone drives at least 90 on Wilshire. That was a bit hard to get used to. Be careful walking across the streets but you will definitely want to walk. There is so much to see in Westwood Villiage.

Hotel Palomar is on Wilshire in LA, which is a busy street, but within walking distance to Westwood and UCLA. The hotel has an excellent staff, and nice rooms with all of the amenities needed. Parking is a bit expensive, but it LA after all.

My girlfriend and I were in LA for a night and wanted to stay someplace romantic and quiet, with a big bathtub and easy access to the west side. I picked the Palomar. It was a good choice, even though things didn't go quite the way we had planned. I booked the King Spa Suite . We checked in around 7pm. Dark sexy lobby, with a cool European vibe. Our room was on the 18th floor. We took the elevator up (funky red mirrors) to put our stuff down before dinner. Nice large suite, very clean, attractive design in a modern black, white, and red kind of way, and enormous bathtub. We were happy. Then the fire alarm went off and we were told that a water main had burst on the first floor, flooding the elevator banks, and we would have to walk the 17 flights down to go to dinner. So we did, wading through water and firemen at the bottom. We went out for dinner, and when we returned, two of the elevators were working and most of the water had been mopped up. We had a quiet romantic night, until 1am when the fire alarm went off again in our room. In the morning I spoke to the manager, who explained that the flood had shorted the fire alarm and they didn't know until that second alarm went off, but it had been fixed. To make up for what was less than a perfect night, she comped me on the room, working through travelocity for the refund (it took about a week to straighten out). She was professional and understanding. The bottom line is that these things happen, and because she handled it well, I would stay in the Palomar again.
