the hotel was conveniently located in the back bay neighborhood. we took amtrack and were just 2 blocks walk from the back bay station to the hotel. just blocks from boylston and newbury streets. lots of shops and restaurants. 10 minute walk to the boston common. room was lovely though on the small side. staff was friendly and helpful. this was the best rate of any hotel, centrally located in boston.

I stayed at this hotel on 9/13/09. The location was not bad easy walking distance to stuff around and the hotel was clean. But it was less than satisfactory for me. I arrived at 9 in the morning and they didn't have a room which I understood since check in time is a 3pm, they told me to come back then, so I returned at 3:36. They said my room still wasn't ready! I have never had this happen to me where it wasn't ready even after check in. Others were getting their rooms but we didn't and we arrived at 9am to check in at first! So we waited by our stuff for over 45 minutes!!! I went up to the hotel clerk and double checked when check in time was, she blew me off and gave me a short answer "3pm." I said when is our room going to be ready? You said 10 minutes and its been 45. She said, "the lady is just finishing up."(mind you she said this in a rude tone, like i was bothering her!) The lady was rude and didnt express any remorse that we were wasting our one day we had in Boston on waiting for our hotel!!!! We final got our room and the high speed internet didnt work which we needed to check in to our flight! Then when i got home I contacted the general manager and he did not ever respond back to me. Don't stay here their are so many better hotels than this with out the hassle!!! I have never complained on a web cite till this hotel, it just put a damper on my trip!

If you are looking for a luxury hotel this is not it but I will tell you what Hotel 140 brings to the table. First off, the hotel is in the Copley area of Boston. It is a 10 minute walk to Copley or Prudential. The elevators are nice since you have to put your room key into them in order to gain access to the floors above. The rooms are reasonably sized and typically have a bed, desk, TV, wardrobe, and bathroom. The furniture and decor in the room is very plain, but the mattress was more comfortable than in other budget hotels. Everything was clean and looked either brand new or recently redone. This is not the nicest hotel in Boston but at half the price or less, in the location that its in, it will fulfill the needs of the average traveler/tourist. I would stay there again just on the proximity to everything and the multiple subway stops which are close by. As a side note the is a little cafe downstairs where you can get breakfast and lunch at an average price.
