I pre-paid for this room through travel agency and paid extra for what travel agency billed as a deluxe room. When I got to the hotel, which is located across from the bus station, and saw my dingy, sad room, I called reception and inquired about the deluxe room. I was told there was no such thing, because the hotel is being renovated, and the - hopefully- nicer rooms will not be ready for several months. While this hotel was cheaper than the other hotels I had considered, it was not appreciably cheaper and not in a great location. Plus the health club and pool aren't even open. I would gladly have paid more for a nicer hotel I am very unhappy with both travel agency and Marriott and feel foolish and cheated.

I will never stay at the PHL Marriott Downtown ever again. A conference was checking in at the same time I arrived. The hotel did not arrange to have separate check-in for non-conference guests. I waited in line for over 51 minutes to check-in. I could not get the internet to work in my room. Then, I had to pay for internet in the lobby even though it was supposed to be free. Even then, the internet cut in and out. I missed several important emails and was late to one of my mandatory classes as a result. Furthermore, the bathroom was not very clean. On the bright side, the front desk was friendly and the location great. Since I'm a business traveler though, so I have to have a prompt check-in and a functional internet is a must.

Nice hotel in a great downtown location. Staff was pleasant and helpful, room was clean and spacious. You can walk to so many places and only a short cab ride to the Amtrak Station.

Excellent hotel with fine staff. The hotel is huge and located in the heart of Philadelphia next to the Convention Center. It can be quite busy if there are alot of events in town. If you are looking for quiet and quaint, search elsewhere. Be careful if you are using a GPS sytem to get to the hotel. Its address is 1201 Market Street but the entrance is actually one block over on Filbert Street. Getting to Filbert can be a daunting task if not familiar with Philly. No turns are allowed on Market Street. Only drawback of hotel is slow elevators - simply not enough for the amount of rooms.
