For those that attend Javits on a regular basis, you cant get any closer. Half a block away, room was larger than some of the more expensive places I've stayed in previously, the hotel and room was clean and updated. Free wifi and Continental breakfast, and the company likes the low rates.

From the moment we stepped thru the door I thought I was dreaming I could not believe how nasty everything was from the employees to the location to the rooms to the charges to the garage next door. Do not be fooled by the good ratings I have a feeling the hotel owner wrote it.

The lobby was crowded, all the time; the room had an odor that was NOT pleasant; and the people outside we'ren't what I would want to hang out with. Dissapointed! The price, for what I received, was way too much.

Okay, I wasn't expecting much when I booked this hotel. I just needed a place to lay my head when I needed to stay close to a friend's place. I was most pleasantly surprised! The staff seemed to care about what they were doing from the security on up. No one seemed to be just going through the motions. My stay ended up being extended on a weekend that there were NO rooms to be had in western Manhattan. The staff worked with me and really bent over backwards to help me stay those three extra nights - I can't tell you how grateful I was for that kind of help. I'm not sure I would've gotten that kind of attention at the $* a night hotels that week. True, it isn't a posh hotel, but it was convenient for me and while the 24 hour repair shop was a bit loud, it also gave me a feeling of protection when I was walking to the hotel late at night. People were always out - mostly cabbies waiting for their vehicles to be serviced. If you walk over to 8th Avenue (two blocks away) you have all kinds of eateries, delis, and NYC culture without being tourist traps. You have more of a New York neighborhood feel. Oh, it was pretty cool to see and hear the horses clopping down the street. Their stable is quite near.

Accidentally spilled a cup of coffee (that they provided!), removed the wet bedding and wrote a note of type of spill for room service. Never dreamed it would be an issue because it was an accident that could happen to anybody anywhere. Got home and found Best Western Convention Center Hotel had debited my account over $730 for damages. They would not cooperate with the BBB as mediator, nor would they cooperate with the Attorney General's Office's attempt at mediation. Absolutely heinous customer service practices.
