While the hotel lobby, restaurant, hallways and rooms are nicely appointed, the disrepair and condition of the rooms left something to be desired. Because of tears in the carpet; scratches, nicks, and dings in the furniture; rusty water stains on the ceiling around around the sprinklers; and rust and grime in the bathroom, I requested a different room. I can't remember a previous time where such factors caused me to do so, and I even accepted their offer of a downgrade (from a king bed to a queen) because they said that was the only alternative they had. The replacement room was not much different. It is a nice hotel, with a good location, and courteous staff, yet I think it is time that (at least some) rooms, their amenities, and fixtures be considered past their useful life and renovated and replaced.

Although the front desk was called 4 times from 12:30 every hour- nothing was done about a party then screaming crazy person in the room next to us. Why should we have to pack all of our things to change rooms a 3AM with a crazy person who might have had a gun or just beaten the pulp out of us if we were in the hallway. Security was a NO-SHOW. They only refunded an evenings parking fee. I spent over 2000 on flight hotel etc to visit family and friends and take a workshop and the second day of my workshop I was a zombie because this 4 star hotel did nothing about a crazy person in their hotel despite other guests complaining. They should be ashamed of themselves. Never stay here.

1. Reserved months in advance but no non-smoking room at check-in.The female desk clerk's FIRST SUGGESTION was that I try another hotel. When health issues brought up, miraculously a room was available. 2. First room had whistling AC and air filter with an inch-thick layer of dust. Fixing that revealed the imminent failure of the motor bearing. Faucets on the sink were on backwards. 3.Three trips to front desk to get keycard working. 4. Smaller room with post in the middle of the window, makeup mirror didn't light and is mounted at waist-height. Fridge was frozen solid along the back. Sink and tub fixtures corroded and wallpaper peeling on corners. 5. Found an 8GB thumb drive under the chair so not much housekeeping effort. Different assortment of towels every night. Sheets were thin and worn; comforter had holes in it. Both rooms mattresses were caved in in the middle; pushed one on the floor to get any kind of support and that revealed all kinds of dust bunnies. Alarm clock requires persistance to operate, although eventually it reset. Front desk told me to pull the back off and do it manually-which didn't work-eventually sent someone up. 6. Last morning featured in-house intercom wake-up announcing the power was out but assurance that the elevators worked; like I was going to try THAT, and showers in the gym were available. In spite of this, they refused a later check out 1:30 for my shuttle. 7. On arriving home, I see they have cc'd everyone regarding the power failure, so now 242 other people have my email. For $* a night, I expect a lot better and the LOEWs name has lost its luster.

Generally excellent experience. Staff was universally great, including car valet service. Room was spotless, and everything worked. Service in the bar was very good, and the bar had a nice, lively atmosphere. Gripes are very specific. 1. valet parking at $*/day is excessive for Certer City Philly. Other properties in the neighborhood charge less. 2. Room internet charge of $*/day is an insult when paying nearly $*/night for the base room rate. As all experienced travelers know, it's "free" at much less expensive places (Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, etc.) located within 4 blocks of this hotel. 3. Crazy that this hotel didn't have Versus on its room TV cable. Versus is Comcast owned, and this hotel is ~4 blocks from Comcast headquarters. Big shortcomming durinfg hockey playoffs. a room costing nearly $* a night should include the ability to watch the NHL playoffs..

Was there for 5 days and loved the hotel and the city! Comfort and luxury are important to me and I received just that at the Loews! I was there in November of 2009 and will be back there in a few weeks!
