The accomodations are lovely - and the location is great - but there is limited "fun" within the actual hotel for families. The pool was CLOSED (during the off season) - so call & make sure it is open before you visit. Also be advised it is a very TINY pool in a tight, tiny area. It is billed as a "spa" hotel BUT there is NO sauna and no hot tub, either. The beds are super-comphy, the staff was pleasant and the Valet Parking was convenient & efficient (but it costs $*/day and there is no "self parking" in the hotel.) The hotel is 1 block from Michigan Avenue and about 4 or 5 blocks to the Disney Store, Water Tower Place (American Girl Store), and a big Hershey Store. It is advertised as "10 blocks" to Navy Pier - but it is much longer than that and really requires a short ($*#41; cab ride unless you want a very long walk (too far for small children). You can not walk to the Museum / Aquarium from the hotel - again a short ($*) cab ride. The business center is nice, but is also available only at an additional fee. The fitness center is small, but clean and good enough for an on-the-road work-out. We did not use the very expensive "in room" spa services such as massage, due to the very high prices. The top-floor "SkyRoom" restaurant is only open for breakfast and is too pricey for families. The "Elephant & Castle" Pub in the lobby was fast and friendly with traditional pub decor & Irish-themed family fare for reasonable prices. For a clean, comfortable, room convenient to MichiganAve this fits the bill. Just look for the fun elsewhere.

My husband and I stayed at Avenue Hotel over New Year's Eve. The location is amazing for shopping on Michigan Ave!! It is about 1/2 a block away. There is a pub attached to the hotel that offers food and had great atmosphere. We were very disappointed in the fact that when we returned after out show at around 11pm on NYE that they were CLOSED! That really runied our NYE mood, but we managed. The hotel room was a generous size and the bed was very comfortable. Check in was fast and easy with great staff! Enjoy your trip!
