Free high-speed internet (wifi) is available for free only in the lobby/common areas. You have to pay an additional $10 for every 24 hours that you want internet in your room. Valet parking through Thursday is $23/day; and for the weekend is $12/day, plus tax (8.25%). The TV channel selection is very limited. The room was clean and nice, the beds were comfy, the shower was good. Lighting in the room was poor. No swimming pool.

The people at the front desk were friendly. The room was ready as soon as we arrived. The concierge (They didn't exactly call anyone that name) or person in charge of guest services was very helpful in helping us book tours, but it was not easy. Apparently, tourists are not going to Houston at this time. We were told only people with work related activities or conventions stay at this hotel. We did manage to get tours for the four days we were there, but most tour companies would not book a tour for two people only. The hotel people were very helpful and even called the Visitors center for us, but they weren't very helpful. The only company that took us on our tours was called Houston Tours. We wanted to go to San Antonio, but no tour company would take us. We did make the best of it. The people that worked for the hotel made it a better experience, but the people that stay there mostly work related weren't very friendly. There is no one in Downtown after 6:00 p.m. Downtown was safe though.

Top notch hotel. Stayed there weekly for over two years. Great, friendly staff. Rooms are large and clean. The Ambassador Suites are very nice. The hotel is quiet and conveniently located to the downtown area and the Buffalo Bayou hiking/jogging trail. Restaurant provides a nice selection of good food. Lobby bar is enjoyable with food service available there as well. Pillow-top beds are the most comfortable in downtown Houston. Fitness room is well equpped. Only negative is no pool. Hotel is also connected to the downtown Houston underground tunnel system. You can connect to several office buildings and shops and restaurants without ever venturing outdoors into the summer heat and humidity. The Doubletree is a great place to stay.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel on a Saturday night, so it was not full. The staff was extremelyfriendly and helpful, the hotel was very attractive and safe, and the rooms were very nice and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.
