08/14/2010Hotel definitely shows signs of aging, but the suites were nice sized, nice furnished kitchen. the only negative was the fitness room - small and some machines didn't work.

I was pleasantly surprised by the rooms size and cleanliness for the price. I believe the building was either apartments or condos in a previous life. The room had a full size bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, a dishwasher, microwave, electric stove, fridge, and coffee maker. If I were to return to Cincinnati I'd stay there again.

We had a very good experience, and none of the problems noted by some of the adverse comments. The huge space in the rooms is wonderful. Having a refrigerator and kitchen to make our own coffee, have our own juice and drinks, is wonderful. The location of the hotel is great, near to so many museums and venues. The bed was fine. Incredibly cheap city parking garage with an underground walkway from the hotel. When we asked about a greek or middle eastern restaurant nearby, the front desk staff steered us to a GREAT little mom-and-pop Morroccan place two blocks down the street. While it didn't have as beautiful furnishings as some higher-priced places, it was all perfectly suitable. I will happily return to Garfield Inn & Suites probably every time I go back to Cincinnati.

The rates were what attracted me to this hotel, but the quality, cleanliness, and hospitality is what will bring me back. I had a one bedroom suite and it was huge! I had plenty of room. I was only there one night, but it would have been a nice place if I would have had to be there longer. It was nicely appointed. The staff was friendly and courteous. There was a slight delay with check-in, but the computer was down and it was not the fault of the staff. It was nice to be able to valet park and not have to move my car. I also learned that this establishment is not owned by a chain and is privately owned. The care and attention to detail in the rooms was fantastic. The sheets were soft and the pillows were very comfortable. The room was very clean. Some of the amenities were outdated, but for me very adequate. I also learned that they were going to do a complete remodel in the future. I did like the fact the rooms had a DVD player as well. I will definitely stay there again if the need arises.

It's very old and smelly / musty all throughout. I tried to order room service twice. The first time they put me on hold and just set the phone down for about 10 minues. I could everyone laughing and carrying on in the background. I finally hung up and redialed, and the gentleman snapped at me that they were busy and that if I still wanted food it would take at least 40 minutes. I was hungry and in no mood to go out so I still ordered, the food itself was absolutely disgusting and i did not eat it. I would not go back nor recommend anyone else to.
