This was my second time staying at the Millennium Knickerbocker. The rooms and amenities are great however the people and staff make this place. The trip started of great as we got to the hotel 7 hours before check-in to store our luggage and explore the city. The person at the front desk found us a room and allowed us to check in right then. The doormen make you feel at home by greeting you every time you come and go. The bar located in the hotel lobby has been our favorite spot on both trips. The featured martinis are fantastic and the bartenders are great to talk to. In fact, there was 2 years between our trips here and the same three bartenders and same barback still run the show. I highly recommend this hotel for a Chicago getaway, I will certainly be going back.

We live nearby, but like to escape to the city sans children a few times a year. I was encouraged to stay due to the great offer via Groupon. I had stayed here years ago and remember a great experience. It is a Chicago landmark, and a great location. Unfortunatley it has fallen to disrepair. The newly renovated guestrooms are OK. The bathrooms are stately and handsomely designed. But it's as if they replaced some things, and left others. The carpet was worn, but the bed was wonderful. The furniture didn't seem to match but the fixtures were upscale. Odd. And that is where the renovation ended. The lobby is in a sad state. Not grand old Chicago by any means. Tired wall paper, poor flow, a dingy front desk in the back, trim all scuffed, elevator interior looking very tired. Just run down. Was a little embarrased to have taken hubby here for a surprise night out. Even for the great rate via Groupon, we will not return. There are so many better choices in the city, at the same price point. Staff was nice enough, but did not impress by any means. Valet was attentive. They need to completely overhaul the enterance, lobby and common areas. Was excited to revisit an old Chicago landmark, and instead was disappointed and a little sad to see it's current state.

I will never stay there again the service that I got upon leaving was awful the night butler was fighting with a cab driver and fail to place my bag in the cab when I called the hotel to let them know what happen they told me I walked off and left my bags no one ever once apologized and try to fix the issues. Next I made a call to corporate to let them know how awful the customer service was told them the entire story and the response was I will put a ticket in about your incident and that was it still no one apologized for their company. WOW...

This is our second stay at the Knickerbocker. My wife and I were in Chicago for a long weekend of fun and this hotel is in the perfect location for us. Took a shuttle from Midway to the hotel. Shopping, restaurants and bars not too far away. The hotel is quiet but there was a High School prom being held in the ballroom Friday night and our first thought was "oh no". But the hotel must have kept the kids in one area as we didn't hear a thing. Rooms are small but we usually aren't in the room very much anyway. Always a hotel at the top of our list when visiting Chicago!
