An aging and very average hotel from the 70's. You will probably be sucked in here as a result of a company meeting or a wedding. You would have no other reason to stay here. We were there last weekend for a wedding. On Saturday morning the housekeeping staff was knocking on every door shortly after 9am. There are no "do not disturb" hangers available. We asked them to come back later but were told in highly broken English "not come back later". We are also not coming back later.

This was the worst night I have spent in a hotel. To think I paid nearly $* to be kept awake by drunks that the front desk failed to control. There was also smoking (this was supposed to be a non-smoking facility). Room change was not offered, no discount...Security should have addressed this better. You may as well had a sheet of paper for the wall. I wish I would have slept in my car for a lot less $$$.

We stayed overnight for a football game and the college team was also staying at the hotel. Rooms were not ready, but we knew where we were going, so we gave our Marriott credit card to check in and headed into the city for some pregame fund. We return around 10:30pm get our keys and our family of 4 had single king bed. Booked/confirmed 2 doubles. I call front desk, sorry we dont have 2 doubles, I'll send two rollaways. They arrived at 11:45pm, but we were told there were no pillows. Felt like cousins who arrived unannounced to the Marriott. We generally stay at Marriotts...rewards members...but it was clear this place had a large party and went past resources. It's old. The location is great if you're seeing hockey across the street, but forget the "easy walk" to Heinz Field. We took taxi and were glad we did..especially with kids. Pittsburgh is not a hot spot for nightlife, and this place is in the middle of corporate buildings. You have the lobby bar if you dont want to drive..nothing special in walking distance. Parking overnight was $* in connected but unaffiliated garage. Room had two towels. It was just clear we got the last room of the night, as others probably complained and switched to different rooms and we weren't there to defend ourselves, we got the booby prize. I'm looking into Hilton Rewards programs. As a loyal member of Marriott, I had not "frequent guest" experience. Im sure the one nighters who rarely stay were in the double beds we reserved. In today's economy, and having spent nights at Marriotts, if I'm treated like I walked off the street, then I'll just walk out and go to nicer properties when in Pittsburgh for games in the future.

Nothing great, nothing terrible, just pretty average for a Marriott. The rooms are fine for most travelers, and not designed for business travelers -- TV sort of small and not easily watched from the desk. There is a shuttle to take you to the convention center or around town, and a Starbucks in the lobby of a connected office building. The bed was very firm. I suspect it was Marriott's older style, not one of the new beds. On a corporate rate I can't complain about it, it was fine. At anything even close to their normal rates I would have been very disappointed.

I stayed here recently for a Penguins game at Mellon Arena across the street. It's a perfect location for that, and a near other downtown attractions. The staff was great and went out of their way to help on any request. I had a small suite, the room was large, with a nice sitting area. The bathroom was small, but well-equipped. The bed was great and the linens very comfy and cozy. Wireless internet would be a great improvement, though. The restaurant is inventive but uneven and expensive. There are nicer places nearby, but the bar is nice for a drink. I would happily stay here again.
