This is an older "motel" but the location is outstanding. If you are looking for just a place to sleep and you don't want to spend a lot of money doing so, this is the place. Yes, the room was small, but it was clean. The bed was comfortable (except for the small, hard pillows). Security is fine, we felt safe. We did learn too late that the best and least expensive breakfast in Chicago is located right in the motel. Staff was super friendly. We used the three-day pass for the "L" and the buses and were able to get around town quickly and with little problem. Many "L" lines are available just a few short blocks away as are many bus routes. Would we stay there again? Absolutely!

05/09/2010The room was adequate. it wasn't the ritz, but we didn't pay for that type of room. the staff were friendly, personable and helpful.

Free parking was a huge plus; other hotels charge $*/night. Room was not large, but adequate. Everything was very clean, with updated bathroom. Adjoining diner was great for breakfast, both service and food were good. Convenient location, just 1 short block to Chicago Ave, bus #66 takes you straight to Navy Pier. Or only 5 minutes more to walk to the subway Red Line to go anywhere. This is not a fancy, luxurious hotel, but for a decent place to sleep at a great price, it can't be beat.

A roof over your head and a place to sleep. The room was not too big and not too small. The staff was friendly. Didn't have any problems with the room. There is a dinner connected to the place with great service and food. Walking distance to Gino's East Pizza(less than 10min). Only a cab ride to Michigan Ave. Couldn't find anything to complain about even if I wanted to.

Overall a good hotel,liked the location and close to L train.Front desk was courteous. Now the bad, the hotel was still getting renovated and they started work early in morning when I trying to sleep in on my vacation. I GOT BED MITES, I started to scratch 3 days into my trip didn't thing nothing of it til my friend noticed my arm had all the little blisters on my left side . Call Howard Johnson about and they told to go to doctor.The my doctor confirmed that they were mites. Howard Johnson has been keeping in contact and updating me. I would probably stay here again but bring my own sheets or sleeping bag.
