We went on a family trip to San Diego for a week. Thought this would be a great spot, but not so. The website overrates it and so do the pictures. The grounds were beautiful and the time we spent in the pool and hot tub was enjoyable. Sea World is across the bay so you get to see their fireworks every night. All the staff we delt with were polite and helpful as well. However, everything is overpriced and you have to pay extra for just about everything, including the fitness center. San Diego has a great public transportation system with a $* daily pass getting you on both the bus and trolly. However, the closest stop to this hotel is 2 miles. We rented a car for a few days, but had to pay $* each day to park it at the hotel. This may be typical though in San Diego. A minimal breakfast for our family of 5 was $*. Needless to say we only did that once. There is only coffee in the room for 2 cups, so have to go to the Starbucks on the grounds. 3 coffees and some muffins ran about $*. Our room was in a smaller villa building, not the main building. It was very outdated and small. It was to be for 5 people, but that meant a rollaway bed which made the room even smaller (we were not charged extra for that at least). No microwave in the room, no vent in the bathroom. All in all, probably can find a better spot for the money.

The room was nice, but service was below expectations. The hotel is isolated, so it is very hard to get around without a car. Even getting a taxi was difficult. Most of the time, there was no bell captain at the desk, and even when I called ahead, I often had to wait up to 15 minutes for a taxi. Also, the health spa closed at 8:00 p.m., which makes no sense for a resort hotel and spa. I would not stay there again.

The Hilton San Diego Resort is totally overpriced. I stayed four nights - the pools was a mess and unusable for 3 of those nights. My key card had to be reset 3 times in four days, The front desk staff was arrogant and rude. The hotel was not near full - in fact where I parked my car there were only two other cars in the parking lot - but the Hilton still charged $* a day to park my car - ridiculous. I would never stay here again - and you shouldn't unless you enjoy being treated like badly and being overcharged.

Not what I expected for a Hilton

VERY DISAPPOINTING. THE HOTEL WAS VERY OUTDATED. THE SCREEN DOOR FELL OFF AS SOON AS WE TRIED TO SLIDE IT OPEN. THE TV DID NOT WORK AND WHEN I CALLED THEY TOLD ME TO SEE IF IT WAS PLUGGED IN, IT WAS. THE STAFF WERE RUDE. THE HOTEL WAS NOT ON THE BEACHFRONT AS ADVETISED.THE ONLY PLACE TO EAT CLOSE WAS THE HOTEL RESTAURANT. THIS WAS ADVERTISED AS A 4 STAR RESORT AND IT WAS CLOSER TO A 2 STAR. WE CHECKED OUT AND MOVED TO THE WESTIN @ GASLAMP QUARTERS. 100% NICER AND CLEANER
