I came into town with my wife for a funeral choosing this hotel for its location and advertising on this websight. Upon arrival, the room we were given was not exactly what we expected nor as advertised. I paid extra for a room thinking it would be a courtyard room facing the indoor pool (as pictured) only to find out my courtyard was actually a view of another building. The room was shabby and run down, so I went to the front desk to see what else was available. I was able to upgrade my room to something that resembled the pictures advertized for an extra $* per night. Due to the time constraints I stayed as planned. The breakfest was good and the other activities appeared ok but I did not use them.

There are two good things about the Clarion Inn College Park: (1) Air conditioning. (2) Walking distance to the University of Maryland campus. If it weren't for those two factors, we would have moved to another hotel. We came for National History Day in June, so both were important. Our room was shabby, with holes in the corners; the bathroom door barely closed, much less locked; the movie service advertised in the lobby was nonfunctional; and the advertised wireless internet was barely functional. Our room was far enough from the lobby that the wireless connection worked only a short time in the mornings before other guests logged on. They gave us an ethernet cable, but the connecting wire in the room had been cut and never repaired, so we had to take our laptop down to the lobby to go online. There is only one washer and dryer available for guests, and the washer was broken. The breakfast is decent: hard-boiled eggs, waffle irons, toast/bagels, yogurt, apples or oranges, coffee and juice from a machine. With the exception of one front desk manager, the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Housekeeping varied depending on who was working. The shuttle drivers were very accommodating and timely, especially given the hordes of students & parents going to campus each day. One young man, Jobie, who usually works at the front desk, was covering for an absent shuttle driver. He was exceptionally helpful and friendly. His understanding of guest relations will take him far in this industry. If we were to come back to College Park, I think we would stay at the Holiday Inn a little farther north on Baltimore Avenue.

I chose this place for its proximity to the U of MD campus & because it's been recently renovated by new owners. The front office staff were unfriendly upon check-in. It was after 10 p.m. & I was given the room key for an outside room on the second floor in the back & was pointed in the general direction-- a single woman. In the morning, I was greeted by cockroaches in the bathroom-- the small in-house kind, not the large outside variety. When I went to the lobby to check-out, the two women made me wait for several minutes while they worked on some paperwork & then I was handed an incorrect reservation to sign. I told them about the cockroaches after I made sure my paperwork was correct. AWFUL PLACE & PEOPLE!!! If this has been renovated, I can't even imagine how horrible it was previously.

Stayed with grandchildren on trip to DC. Kids loved the pool, and shuffle board. Front desk very nice and helpful. Checked in at same time as large group but felt front desk employees were still very friendly and nice. Walked to nearby 7-11 at night not a bad or unsafe area at all. Bathrooms have been updated. Would book this hotel again.

When my husband and I got there the room had been double booked. They gave us another room, but when we walked in I felt dirty. The wallpaper was hanging off the wall, the jacuzzi and bathroom were absolutely disgusting and I don't think it had even been vacuumed.
