I actually plan to stay here again in about one month. The room was a bargain, considering other D.C. hotels of this status. I think the current economy and the weather in the month of February figure into price reductions. The location is excellent not only for visiting the museums, but also connecting with the metro for business appointments or other destinations in Washington. The room was spacious and very clean, the bed comfortable, the shower excellent. There are no restaurants in the area, however, so plan a long walk, a taxi ride or a metro jaunt to your favorite D.C. dining. The hotel is beginning to show its age, as some others have noticed, so I expect some renovation is forthcoming.

Although the hotel lobby was nice, the staff was so so, actually, with the exception of the check-in desk, many appeared to be so caught up in their own conversations that I felt like I was interupting. The front desk, however, was very nice and attentive. The rooms, well disappointing to say the least. The ratings are off. Rating a hotel more stars than it deserves always leads to disappointment. These rooms were terribly old and out-date and somewhat in disrepair. I would not stay there with young children who tend to pick up and put in their mouths flaking wall paint or paper. Also young children may hurt themselves on nail pops or trip on fraying carpet. If you are looking for a third ranked hotel this one will be suitalbe if you'fre looking for a four star, you'll be disappointed.

I traveled with my 11-year old grandson for a one-week vacation. Location was perfect for us since we depended on the trolleys and cabs. The staff was great to us. We got to know staff at front desk, the restaurant, the pub and the front area. Pool was very enjoyable and right on our 12th floor. Room service was very prompt and we used it often. My recommendation would be tha the hotel not take pets. I think that accounted for some odors in the room and hotel in general. It would have been nice for wifi to have been included but the extra cost was reasonable. To our surprise, when we were leaving and asked for a cab to the Reagan Airport, the gentleman at front loaded us up into the hotel's town car. It was a lovely end to a lovely visit. I would defintitely stay at L'Enfant Plaza again!

Where should I begin. I had a confirmed, prepaid reservation. Called to see if I could check in early was told no because they had been sold out the night before and should come after 4 PM. Arrived at 4:30, 7:30 still waiting, attendant said it would be 15 minutes as they were cleaning room(at 5PM!) Bellman came in and yelled at me YOU Can't Leave your car there Clerk ignored us and had to speak to someone else.!Finally 8 we got our room, was supposed to be 2 doubles but got a king and a cot. No towels, no mini bar. Was told nice room with a view, but a view of the highway, road noise all night and room shook when trains went by.Got a bill in AM for prepaid room, which I had been told would be complimentary because of our long wait etc. Breakfast was expensive, eggs and bacon were ice cold. Hallways were dingy and smelled. Location great, but that's it. By the way I travel lots and have never written a bad review, this should be a two star hotel.

We are staying in the L Enfant right now as part of a family road trip. I pride myself as one who really tries to get good quality for their money...and I failed by booking here! It is really a run down hotel which is about 20 years overdue for a renovation. My 3 children walked off the elevator en route to our room...and said "It looks and smells like a nursing home". The mood did not improve when we opened our doors to our room...peeling wallpaper, outdated lighting, lovely view and sounds of a train below! One shining star was our nigerian waiter Bart in the American Grill we really had a lovely meal with terrific service. In closing I have never cut my stay short due to hotel conditions... but after writing this review I will begin searching for another hotel for our second night in DC.
