Stayed there for three nights 1st week of October. Didn't get much sleep because the a/c could not get the room below, I'm guessing 78 degrees. My wife and I just laid in bed and sweat instead of sleeping. The restaurant is so fofo and overrated. It is an easy walk from the hotel to the Capitol and Smithsonian but watch out for the homeless, there is a soup kitchen a block away from the hotel that attracts them. This was my 1st time in DC and after walking around for 3 days I recommend staying near the white house or north of Pennsylvania ave, plenty of hotels and nice restaurants nearby. The Liason in way overpriced as well, find a better place to stay.

The hotel lobby was freshly outdated. The room looked cool but upon further inspection it was dirty and the white stains on the leather portion on the bed were disgusting. We could hear everything that was going on in the room beside us (more than what you can normally expect in a hotel stay). The location of the hotel was convenient to the Capitol. The valet service was great. But note that our full size SUV would not fit into their parking garage and our only other option was to park it several blocks away.

The Affinia is a short walk from much of the downtown DC attractions. The front desk staff was not overly friendly, but were efficient and the bell staff/concierge were FULL of info. The rooftop pool is very nice, features drink and food service, as well as comfy chairs for individuals and couples. The weather was pretty hot when we were there, but the pool was freezing. Room itself was a disappointment. The bed was very firm and was the kind of firm where you think you can feel the springs a bit. Bedding was clean and crisp. The room was a bit worn with scuffs on the bottom of furniture and wallpaper that had been patched in a few places. Having said that, the room was quiet and had room darkening drapes that were fantastic.

Great location for seeing the city. We walked to the Capitol, Smithsonian museums, National Mall and White House. The hotel staff was very accommodating and the pool was nice. The restaurant is very expensive. We would stay here again.

Very dark when you enter; had to call for room service to clean one day;bathroom ceiling had large gash & tub faucet dripped constantly; sink faucets had loose handles that would drop off. The hotel is an old Holiday Inn that has not been refurbished very well. The only plus we could see was the location. Close to Union Station and the Capitol.
