I was there with 2 grandkids so the room was ample enough for them to spread out their stuff. Two sinks - one in bathroom and one outside of bathroom - was really convenient and always clean. Apparently there had been some remodeling because the carpet was clean, the furniture was in good shape. Breakfast was adequate but dining room was very dreary. Their vehicles had trouble keeping up with the shuttle needs and didn

On the positive side I found the staff helpful and friendly. My wife found them responsive but not particularly friendly. The continental breakfast was about normal for motels in this price range. The shuttle service was adequate. The room was and looked old. All of the electrical outlets were wired into the light switch for the main room. They were worn out and wouldn't hold a plug in place, coupled with having to crawl under the desk to unplug the coffee if you wanted to plug in a laptop. The high speed internet was a joke. In our first room it was impossible to go on-line after an hour on the phone with the I.T. people from somewhere. They did change our room and it worked until a storm came and we had to sit near a window to pick up a signal. There was no T.V. channel guide in the room, but the desk clerk could give you the channel number if you called & asked. The housekeeping staff was far from efficient as one day they forgot to replenish the coffee and another they removed, but didn't replace, washcloths or coffee cups. We were able to get them replaced by calling or going to the front desk. None of the sinks held water and on and on. All in all these were small items, but added together, equal a disappointing stay.

For the most part we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is co-located with a Comfort Inn which shares the pool and the shuttle. The continental breakfast in the Best Western main building included the usual donuts, bagels, cereal, juice, coffee, and fruit; plus, waffles and hard boiled eggs. The on-site restaurant is in the Comfort Inn. We ate there two nights. The offerings were not fancy but the food was tasty, filling, and reasonably priced. The shuttle to the Pentagon City Metro stop was very efficient. The Metro system was a very effective way to get to downtown DC. I see no reason to try driving and fight the traffic. I have only one negative comment about this property: The rooms seem to have no soundproofing. Any sounds from an adjoining room are easily heard and we had the misfortune of loud neighbors on three of the four nights.

You Get What You Pay For

When searching for a DC hotel to stay in, I chose this one because of previous good experience with the Best Western name and the fact that it was one of the least expensive to offer shuttle service. After a five day stay, I found that the low price was justified, and that this hotel wasn't exactly what I was expecting from the Best Western name. Before I get into the negatives of my stay, I want to acknowledge the positives. First, this hotel does offer a relatively inexpensive rate in comparison with other hotels that offer a shuttle service in the DC area. Second, I found the staff to be very responsive and friendly. They quickly resolved an issue that we reported to them. They were also very helpful in scheduling a cab for us to get back to the airport. Unfortunately, there were more negatives than positives. First, the hotel was not what I was expecting from a Best Western appearance wise. It is an old motel style complex, although they have done what they can to update things. Second, the walls are paper thin. You should expect to hear everything that goes on in your neighbor's room. Unfortunately for me, this turned out to be a considerable negative, as my neighbor was quite loud and NC-17 rated. Third, although they do offer a shuttle service, they need to invest in a larger van or maybe even a bus. Taking the metro back to the hotel at night was always a bear, as they tried to cram us all in a small van and they often had to make multiple trips to get everyone. I once had to wait nearly an hour for the shuttle to return multiple times.
